Governor Quinn gave Mayor Emanuel permission to put cameras in half of Chicago. The mayor thinks the cameras will be safe for children. In 2010, the city received $69 million from red light tickets. The money from the speed cameras will be used for schools, bridges and roads. Some people think Quinn gave permission to help his friendship with Mayor Emanuel.
I agree with this decision because the money can be used for city development, but I think the cameras should only be put near the schools, not all over the city. I think also speeding is dangerous and causes accidents.
